This Pentax 35mm f2.3 Auto-Takumar is a wide angle lens with a fast f2.3 maximum aperture. When it was first released in 1959 it was one of the world's brightest retrofocus wide angle lenses for single lens reflex cameras. Edge-to-edge sharp resolution at full aperture; unique lens design without distortion; suitable for architectural photography. It was part of the second generation of Takumar M42 lenses announced by Asahi in 1958 titled Auto-Takumar. These lenses featured semi-automatic aperture diaphragms that automatically closed the aperture when the shutter was fired but required the user to manually reopen the aperture after exposure. These Auto-Takumar lenses also have an updated single layer lens coating for improved anti-reflection qualities. This lens has a 62mm filter thread.
